We are proud to announce that once again AAFS is a recepient of 8 AmeriCorps. AAFS is a proud AmeriCorp recepient for the past 7 years. Our AmeriCorps help us to community and expand our services to the those in need. Welcome on board!

AAFS Girls Youth Club is a ten week session focusing on empowerment, leadership, confidence, and most of all giving to others and making an impact. This year AAFS Girls Youth Club are a sponsor of Martin Luther King's Jr. Service Day project. The Girls will help support three wonderful organizations: Catholic Charities, Brady Elementary School, and Children's Hope Hospital.

AAFS Girls Youth Group would like to thank all those who have contributed to the Socks, Hats and Gloves Drive. All three charities: Brady Elementary School, Catholic Charities and Advocate Hope Children's Hospital appreciate and thank AAFS and the Arab American community for the wonderful support provided to their families in need.
Project success: To Advocate Hope Children's Hospital: Pairs of Socks: 250; Hats: 150; and Pairs of Gloves: 150. To Brady Elementary School: Pairs of Socks: 450; Hats: 450; and Pairs of Gloves: 292. Catholic Charities (Pad Center, Chicago, IL):Pairs of Socks: 230; Hats: 234; and Pairs of Gloves: 134.
AAFS and ANITA ALVAREZ

Please join us for a very special Saturday afternoon lunch featuring keynote speaker, Cook County State Attorney, Anita Alvarez.
Ms. Alvarez is a career prosecutor and a life-long Chicagoan who was born and raised in the Pilsen neighborhood. Ms. Alvarez presently holds the third ranking post in the Cook County States Attorney's Office.
The afternoon will also feature a panel discussion of successful Arab-American women who will share their experiences working in public office. The panel will then be open to taking questions from the audience.
Looking forward to seeing you all there for what promises to be a very enlightening afternoon! Please RSVP by April 9, 2010.

In 2009, AAFS provided services to 16,384 individuals in various areas: Public Benefits, Elderly Services, Domestic Violence, Mental Health, Family Law, Interpretation and Translations, and more.
