Arab American Family Services was founded by two dedicated
women in 2001. Itedal
Shalabi and Nareman Taha envisioned an organization that
will empower and enhance the lives of many in need.
From day one, they realized that such an organization was
essential to meet the needs of the many families and
individuals who for far too long have suffered
tremendously. It was obvious that people needed someone to
understand them, to speak their language, and most of all to
provide them with greater opportunities to create better
lives—it was then that Arab American Family Services(AAFS) was created.
As it
continues to fulfill its mission, Arab American Family Services
maintains to service the Arab American families, individuals,
and those in need by providing them access to:

Elderly Services
Domestic Violence Prevention and
Intervention
Outreach and Interpretation
Cultural Trainings
Youth
Programs
English Second Language (E.S.L)
Women
and Children Crisis Fund (WCCF)
Immigration Services
and
much more
Helping to
keep families together and not having individuals lose hope in
their community and society as a whole is the driving force of
what continues to make Arab American Family Services what it is
today.
AAFS addresses the countless social and economic barriers that
face the growing population of Arab-Americans. Our agency is
staffed by Arabic-speaking professionals of all faiths who are
sensitive to the religious, cultural, and language needs of
Arab-American families.
Arab American Family Services believes everyone is part of the
greater picture of bringing joy, security and stability to the
thousands of individuals—from our board, to our staff, to our
volunteers, to our donors, and to our founders. Each investment
of time, resources and funds are continuously directed to
identify strategic ways in expanding and enhancing programs that
will impact the lives of Arab Americans and many in greater
ways. In addition, these investments have been critical to the
longevity and sustainability of this organization. This is why;
the continuous effort of supporting the work of Arab American
Family Services has always been appreciated and taken to great
lengths in bringing valuable and tangible programs and services
to those who truly want to make a difference in the lives of
others.
