Arab American Family Services was founded by two dedicated women in 2001. Itedal Shalabi and Nareman Taha envisioned
an organization that will empower and enhance the lives of many in need. From day one, they realized that such an
organization was essential to meet the needs of the many families and individuals who for far too long have suffered
tremendously. It was obvious that people needed someone to understand them, to speak their language, and most of all
to provide them with greater opportunities to create better lives—it was then that Arab American Family Services (AAFS)
was created.
